      Where's Haiti?  By Tipu V. Khan, M.D.

      Picture
Did you know where Haiti was prior to the devastating earthquake of 2010?  The answer is likely no, and neither did most Americans.  Since that fateful day in January, Haiti has become an iconic image of poverty and devastation in the postmodern capitalistic era we live.  However, there are few accounts of the suffering published.  With millions wanting to learn more, this book will fill a much needed void in the market.

Where’s Haiti?  is a unique exposition into the soul of Haiti.  Through numerous accounts of humanitarian missions to Haiti, the reader will experience the country, culture, and peoples which comprise this beautiful nation.  To fully comprehend the depth of suffering, the reader will learn of the basic history prior to the earthquake and of some of the basic medical problems Haitians face, written in a non-medical format for the average reader to grasp.  Tears will be shed and dreams envisioned as individual stories of death, struggle, poverty, and life unfold in the neediest population in the Western Hemisphere.  Through the eyes of an American Physician working in Haiti, the reader will be touched by real stories of real people struggling to survive and fight for better opportunities.

I am an American Physician who has travelled and worked in Haiti numerous times.  I will bring these memories and emotions to the general public through my writings.  My prior experience in writing is diverse; having earned a B.A. in philosophy and a M.D.  I have published extensively including philosophical articles printed in the Journal UC Davis Ergo Sum, Journal of Bioethics and Philosophy of Science to peer reviewed material in The Journal of the American Medical Association, and California Family Physician and EMS Professional. I have been privileged to serve as a peer reviewer for the textbook Déjà Review: Family Medicine.  All in all, I have nine publications and four pending articles and one pending textbook.

Where's Haiti? will be available soon, more information to follow.
